Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. Pilates focused his exercises on the core, postural muscles which help to keep the body balanced and provide good alignment and support for the spine, whilst concentrating on the awareness of breath. Fit For Life Pilates has taken many of Pilates exercises and has added various Pilates equipment to add progression and variation improving and maintaining muscle mass and importantly bone density. The exercises have been adapted so that we work in multi directional movements in order for us to be effective during daily life. Like Aerobics in the days of its founder, Jane Fonda, Pilates has evolved and instructors who are not embracing changes within our industry are ill informed and educated.
